Library Offers New “Winning Strategies” Workshop Series
A series of workshops on strategies for conducting business on the Web will be offered in the third floor program room at Hartford Public Library, 500 Main Street, on five consecutive Monday evenings, February 26 – March 26, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Workshops will be facilitated by Joyce Therieault, a popular presenter for previous workshops and owner of the WSI (We Simplify the Internet) Web Wize franchise in West Hartford. After receiving her bachelors' degree from Central Connecticut State University, Therieault went on to obtain an MBA from the University of Hartford. She is a certified Project Management Professional and a member of the Project Management Institute, with extensive experience in business analysis, web design, application implementation, management consulting, business development, project management, business process reengineering, application development, and software selection.
February 26Introduction to the Web and Web Sites
The focus will be on the top ten reasons why every business should have a Web site and learn about Web functionality, graphics, domain names, hosting, and costs.
March 5Introduction to Internet Marketing
Methods for attracting more Web site traffic by legitimate search engine optimization will be the main topic. Discussion will cover search engine registration, inbound links, continual updates, and volume of text.
March 12Internet Marketing: Advanced Concepts
More sophisticated methods for keyword selection and inbound links, press releases, RSS feed and interactive/unique features will be explained.
March 19Online Advertising
Topics will include: comparison of Google, Yahoo!, ReachLocal, and Internet yellow-page sites; banner ads and affiliate links; and, affordability and comprehensiveness of these various options.
March 26E-Commerce Web Sites and Marketing
Evaluation techniques, ways to ensure customer loyalty, and the importance of Web site and inventory maintenance will be examined.
